Hello and “ fit like “ to all fellow BIBC members.
This past year has been unprecedented not only for Buchan Indoor Bowling Club, but for the
country as a whole. Every household has been affected in one way or another.
Your committee put in a lot of work last year, in preparing the club to be as Covid secure as we
could be; and we would like to thank all members who followed the rules which were in place,
for the short time we were able to participate in bowling last season.
Even though we only had a few months of bowls, our club was one of the lucky ones. Other
clubs within the SIBA umbrella were not so fortunate and have been closed for a full year and
We have had a few online Zoom meetings with the other clubs in our area and with the SIBA.
There has been a lot of support from Gordon Woods to all clubs and we are all very grateful for
that. He managed to clear up a lot of confusion at the time, with the licensing board and
Scottish Government regarding club operating procedures during the pandemic.
Regarding reopening this season, the committee are waiting until we are in level 1 prior to
deciding dates. The restrictions which are still in place in level 2, make it difficult to open the
club fully whilst we will be operating in summer hours; with our normal, reduced bowling
Some dates we do have for your diaries are as follows:
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – Friday 18th.June at 7pm.
Fee collection – Sunday 4th.July 10am to 6pm
Closing date for names for leagues for new season – Saturday 31st.July
If any member would like to add anything onto the agenda for the AGM, please submit it in
writing or by email, to the secretary at the club prior to our next committee meeting on
Wednesday 9 th June. Members are reminded, there will be no AOCB at the meeting.
Email – firstname.lastname@example.org
Further information regarding fees will be passed on at the AGM.
Only full members, who have paid their fees, should be putting their names on the board for
the new season leagues.
National playdown competitions will also take place this season, but these will be advertised on
the boards once the bowling season has commenced.
Heres hoping that we can have a full and successful bowling season, both within and outwith
Past president Alec Simpson has resigned from the committee due to work commitments, after
a change of employment. I would like to thank him, both personally and on behalf of BIBC for
all the work he has done in the past for the club. I know we can count on your continued
support for the club.
I would like to thank all our volunteers who help out in any way, to make BIBC the successful
club that it is.
That brings me onto our annual appeal to ALL members of OUR club. If you can spare a few
hours a month, please join our team of volunteers, either assisting with bar duty or cleaning
duty. The more help we have, the less each person has to do. OUR club is only successful if we
ALL pull together and assist where required.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I hope to see you all at the club, enjoying
the sport of bowls, having a laugh, having a dram and slowly getting our lives back to normality.
