PRESIDENTS NEWSLETTER 2023

Dear Members,
It is again my pleasure to be writing this as your President for the forthcoming
year 2023 – 2024, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you once
again for electing me. I hope to be a good President on behalf of the Club in
all matters when I represent you at various things within the bowling circles.
My first duty is to thank my Committee for their support during the past year
and in no particular order my thanks go to:
David Hay, our Treasurer, for his dedication to our Club in securing deals for
gas, electricity and phones to ensure we are paying competitive prices for our
Utilities, and also keeping control of the Financial aspect of our Club.
Alison Hay, our Secretary, who keeps all things running smoothly with the
Administrative side of our Club.
Raymond Brown, our Match Secretary, with his dedicated approach to the
implementation of our leagues and National fixtures, and keeping everything
updated to help us enjoy our wonderful sport.
Mary Brown, our Ladies SIBA Delegate, who, has supported numerous
members in their quest for National Silverware, at various venues.
Sandy Elrick, our Gents SIBA Delegate, who, like Mary has supported
numerous members in the quest for National Silverware, at various venues.
Committee Members, who after being elected by you the members, work
tirelessly behind the scenes doing various jobs to ensure you can enjoy our
wonderful sport within the Club.
I wish to give thanks to our Immediate Past President, Alan Paterson for all
his tireless work he has put in over the last few years and wish him all the best
for the future. Also thanks to Allan Brunton, who unfortunately had to resign
from the Committee due to ill health, but is now making good progress.

Outwith our main core of Volunteers I would like to thank Robert and Valerie
Golightly, who maintain the Pool and Snooker Tables to a high standard to
ensure that everyone who plays can continue to enjoy the good playing
surfaces.
Our Volunteers, what can I say! Without them YOUR CLUB would struggle
to survive in these economic times. Giving up their time - regardless of age,
mainly for 2 hours – yes, that’s correct, 2 hours a month so that you can enjoy
yourselves playing your games and socialising with your fellow bowlers.
Continuing on with regards to volunteers, I would seriously ask you to
consider helping out, by giving a couple of hours of your time a month and
JOIN our group of Volunteers, to assist with either Hat Duty, Bar Duty or
Cleaning Duty. Training/Tuition will be given for any of these duties. Please
consider helping out in YOUR Club – just a 2 hour stint per month!!
Remember, OUR CLUB depends on VOLUNTEERS to run
successfully.

again for electing me. I hope to be a good President on behalf of the Club in
all matters when I represent you at various things within the bowling circles.

David Hay, our Treasurer, for his dedication to our Club in securing deals for
gas, electricity and phones to ensure we are paying competitive prices for our
Utilities, and also keeping control of the Financial aspect of our Club.
Alison Hay, our Secretary, who keeps all things running smoothly with the
Administrative side of our Club.
Raymond Brown, our Match Secretary, with his dedicated approach to the
implementation of our leagues and National fixtures, and keeping everything
updated to help us enjoy our wonderful sport.
Mary Brown, our Ladies SIBA Delegate, who, has supported numerous
members in their quest for National Silverware, at various venues.
Sandy Elrick, our Gents SIBA Delegate, who, like Mary has supported
numerous members in the quest for National Silverware, at various venues.
Committee Members, who after being elected by you the members, work
tirelessly behind the scenes doing various jobs to ensure you can enjoy our
wonderful sport within the Club.

his tireless work he has put in over the last few years and wish him all the best

to survive in these economic times. Giving up their time - regardless of age,
mainly for 2 hours – yes, that’s correct, 2 hours a month so that you can enjoy
yourselves playing your games and socialising with your fellow bowlers.
Continuing on with regards to volunteers, I would seriously ask you to
consider helping out, by giving a couple of hours of your time a month and
JOIN our group of Volunteers, to assist with either Hat Duty, Bar Duty or
Cleaning Duty. Training/Tuition will be given for any of these duties. Please
consider helping out in YOUR Club – just a 2 hour stint per month!!

Our Volunteers, what can I say! Without them YOUR CLUB would struggle
to survive in these economic times. Giving up their time - regardless of age,
mainly for 2 hours – yes, that’s correct, 2 hours a month so that you can enjoy
yourselves playing your games and socialising with your fellow bowlers.
Continuing on with regards to volunteers, I would seriously ask you to
consider helping out, by giving a couple of hours of your time a month and
JOIN our group of Volunteers, to assist with either Hat Duty, Bar Duty or
Cleaning Duty. Training/Tuition will be given for any of these duties. Please
consider helping out in YOUR Club – just a 2 hour stint per month!!
Remember, OUR CLUB depends on VOLUNTEERS to run
successfully.

Joining Fee (1 st year only) - £10.00
Full Member - £60.00 per annum
Associate Member - £30.00 per annum

Buchan Indoor Bowling Club in all the National Competitions, every success in

Due to Carpet Maintenance our Club will be closed from Tuesday 22 nd
August at 3:45pm until Friday 25 th August at 7:00pm

I am pleased to inform you that we have a new Caterer in place for the season
2023/2024, and look forward to welcoming Eilidh Davidson on board for our
requirements throughout the forthcoming bowling season. Watch this space
for further updates re Catering within the Club.
