Dear Members
Once again I am keen to reiterate that it has been a great honour to have
served as your President for the past year and equally a pleasure to have
once again been elected as your President for the forthcoming year. I look
forward to working with your committee in overseeing the next 12 months
ensuring our club is best placed for the future.
With regards to our committee I would like to thank them for their contribution
over the past year and I am delighted to announce the newly elected
committee for the forthcoming year.
Sandy Elrick has been re-elected as Vice President and additionally has
agreed to continue in the role of our Gents SIBA Delegate. Sandy’s love of
bowling shines through and his contribution to our club is sincerely welcomed.
David Hay remains as our Treasurer ensuring procurement and costs are
well controlled and we can demonstrate strong results and sound financial
governance. I am delighted Dave has agreed to remain as part of our
committee, not only is his expertise invaluable but his recent project
management in overseeing some of the clubs recent renovations and
improvements on a daily basis, giving up a large amount of personal time has
been outstanding.
Raymond Brown remains as Match Secretary for the forthcoming season,
demonstrating his commitment to our club by organising our various
competitions through the season. While this remains a part time role
Raymond puts in a power of work keeping our matches and leagues really
well organised and I am delighted he remains in this very important role.
Alison Hay remains on the committee for the forthcoming year as Secretary.
Alison keeps our male dominated committee in place each month while also
ensuring the Administration side of the business remains in good order. Alison
regularly attends to the club admin function through both the playing and
close season demonstrating her dedication to the club.
Bill Menzies has agreed to remain on the committee for a further year
organising our rotas for HAT and bar/function duty. Bill has also agreed to
continue running the monthly Bingo events and the 50/50 draw along with

participating on our regular cleaning rota with his good wife Mary. We are
delighted Bill continues to support the club in this way.
Edna Yule also remains on the committee this year once again looking after
and organising the clubs entertainment on a regular basis. Edna has really
developed the entertainment and community side of our club which is going
from strength to strength recently.
Our new additional committee members this year are as follows –
James Wiseman, a relatively new member over the past year, we are
delighted that James has been elected and has accepted the role of Point of
Contact for cleaning duty rotas following a relatively short handover from Bill
Menzies. We are confident James will rise to the challenge of this important
role and we wish him well in his bowling endeavours this year where we all
know he is extremely passionate about.
Pam Hepburn has also been elected to the committee for this coming year. In
due course Pam will take over the role of Child Protection Officer ensuring
the club continues to remain compliant with current legislation.
We are still looking for one further member to join our committee in order to
make up our full compliment so if this is of any interest to any full member out
there pleale contact a member of the above committee.
Lastly Mary Brown has once again agreed to remain in the role of the Ladies
SIBA Delegate demonstrating her commitment to the club and the sport.
Mary will keep the Ladies well appraised of all thing related to Scottish Indoor
Bowls.
To our team Captains this past year, Carol Gladstone, Bill Menzies and David
Hay and their assistants it was mixed year with some indifferent form.
Certainly, there was no lack of effort by all concerned and we wish this year’s
Captains all the very best in their endeavours.
My apologies in advance but once again I have to raise the subject of
volunteers or in fact the lack of to assist us with the smooth running of the
club. We are thankful for everyone who steps up and helps us in any way they
can whether it be a committee role or a part time 2 hours a week involvement.
More hands means less work for the committed few.
To the regular volunteers, you know who you are, who once again give up
their own time for the benefit of the club we once again must highlight our
appreciation, we could not do it without you.
Can I also take this opportunity to thank our Umpires once again who assisted
in various league matches and local competitions over the year. Your
assistance and support I am sure will be called upon in the year ahead.
